Why HomeCostLab exists
HomeCostLab helps homeowners, DIY planners, and property owners estimate the quantity of materials they may need and organize a project budget before making a purchasing or contracting decision.
We focus on a straightforward principle: measured quantities are not the same thing as local contractor prices. Tools should make the calculation visible, and users should be able to replace every assumed cost with actual quotes.
Independence and funding
The site is designed to remain free, with possible future income from clearly marked advertising and disclosed relevant affiliate links. Paid placements must never alter calculator formulas, pretend to be recommendations from measurements, or masquerade as results.
What we do not claim
We do not offer licensed contracting, structural design, code certification, guaranteed live regional pricing, or professional tax advice. We do not currently operate a contractor referral service or collect project leads.
